Aussie Yarns - Dave Goddard

Stories about Australia

Visiting York

We presented at the York CRC with assistance from Karina, whose efforts were genuinely appreciated. Dave had played a couple of seasons of Australian Rules football with York back in the 1970s, when people like Jim Finnerty, Macca and the Marwicks were on the field. So it was great to see a few of those names and to meet others at the CRC. We also introduced those present to the cover design for Dave’s new novel, “Turn on a Light”. We used a sample of Ross MacLennan’s design and asked the question, “Would this cover make you turn to the back and check out the synopsis?” The answer, generally, was yeIMG_2789s, so Ross has done well. We need permission, however, to use one of the images on the cover and Dave is currently pursuing that. We’ll see what happens.

IMG_2788 But yes, it was a top time in York, staying at recently re-opened Settlers, and dining at the Castle on Monday night. Our next endeavour will be in the south-west, probably after Christmas. We’re looking forward it.IMG_2787

  2. I am extremely impressed along with your writing talents as well as with the layout on your weblog. Is that this a paid subject matter or did you customize it your self? Either way stay up the excellent high quality writing, it’s rare to see a great blog like this one today.

Hi and thanks for the feedback. Nice to receive. Dave has self-published three novels which are for sale. They fund this website and his choice has been to create the various elements of the site: background on the novels, the articles on self-publishing, and the short stories (over thirty of these). He also does many presentations on his novels to a range of organisations, rural and metropolitan, on request. The website was customized by the son of his former partner who was a man named Nick Norris. Nick and his three grandchildren with whom he was travelling, sadly died on MH 17 which was blown up over the Ukraine. Dave does most of the management and all of the writing that goes up on the website so he is very interested in feedback. Thanks for taking the time.

  3. Hiya, I am really glad I have found this information. Today bloggers publish just about gossips and web and this is actually frustrating. A good website with exciting content, this is what I need. Thanks for keeping this web-site, I’ll be visiting it. Do you do newsletters? Cant find it.

Thanks for the feedback and we agree with the comment about “frustrating”. No, we don’t have a newsletter but the blog acts in lieu of one. Follow the link at the bottom of the home page and join if you want each blog to come you way.
